We are unique because

W.A.L.L.S Inc. was created because of a young man who became near and dear to our hearts. He is a young man with Autism and Cerebral Palsy. Over our ten year relationship with him and his peers we have seen the lack of support he will have as he exits high school. He is a son of a single mother who has to work on a daily basis and is only able to provide him with a caretaker in his own home.
The founders of W.A.L.L.S began exploring options for this young man as he would need constant assistance to succeed, feel fulfillment, and maintain a job in the workforce. After speaking to several high schools’ special education teachers they also Emphasized the need for the middle population such as our friend.
We decided there was a need for a sheltered workshop in the Northwest of Indianapolis area. We created a board of two special education teachers, a high school Math teacher, a first grade teacher, a lawyer, Marian University administrative personnel, a financial consultant at Takeda, and a manager for tenant coordination at Simon Property Group, and a retail management consultant. All of these board members have had a relationship with the young man previously mentioned and are invested in his future.
Another way W.A.L.L.S Inc. is unique is by using a team concept to be successful. A team is comprised of a group of adults with similar interests and different levels of abilities. Within the team there is a team leader who is an adult with disabilities that is able to help guide their team to success by building and using their leadership. This leader concept will instill drive and motivation to other members of the team to become leaders themselves. A team will also include a coach who will be a highly trained and energetic staff member of W.A.L.L.S Inc. By contracting our work from our local businesses our adults will be educating and contributing to their community while having a purpose filled day.
What make W.A.L.L.S. unique is the environment and working situations that will meet each individual client’s skill level. Our goal is to match each adult with tasks that will allow him or her to be fulfilled with a sense of accomplishment. Our team concept will also develop an ability to work with others.
